Preventing Visceral Fat with Aerobic and Resistance Training

by Maria on November 24, 2009

A research carried out by scientists in the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA, has found that as little as 80 minutes of resistance training or aerobic a week aids both in preventing weight gain and restraining a regain of visceral fat a year after weight is lost. Visceral fat is extremely harmful to the internal organs in the abdominal cavity.

Different from subcutaneous fat that lies directly below the skin and can be easily seen, visceral fat is formed under the abdominal muscle in the abdominal cavity and very often comes all around vital organs. It is more harmful than subcutaneous fat and can be the cause for developing heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.
