Here are some tips to help you lose weight and live healthy:

Tip # 1: Eat a minimum of 3 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruit each day. 1/2 cup of most cooked vegetables, 1 cup of salad, or a piece of fruit qualifies as one serving. 4 ounces of juice equals one serving of fruit.

Tip # 2: Eat at least 3 servings of whole grains each day! Whole grain contains vitamin E, vitamin B6, magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese and potassium.

Tip # 3: Eat at least 4 servings of beans, lentils or peas each week. Like most vegetables they are good sources of fiber and phytochemicals that help cut the risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes. But unlike other vegetables, they have enough protein to substitute for a serving of meat, poultry or fish.

Tip # 4: Eat 3 meals and 2 or 3 small snacks a day.

Tip # 5: Eat breakfast.

Tip # 6: Limit soft drink.

Tip # 7: Drink approximately 8 cups of water to cleanse your body, to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight, to relieve constipation, to protect yourself against colon and bladder cancers.

Tip # 8: Limit caffeine to 2 servings or less a day.

Tip # 9: Limit salty foods. High sodium diets in women are associated with increased risk of osteoporosis. It takes only about 2 weeks to learn to prefer the taste of unsalted foods.

Tip # 10: Limit the amount of saturated fat you eat. As a general guideline saturated fat is solid at room temperature (butter,margarine, and the fat in meat and cheese).

Tip # 11: Get a healthy dose of fresh air by airing out your house as often as you can and spending time outdoors.

Tip # 12: Exercise on a daily basis to lose weight and stay healthy.

Tip # 13: Get the right amount of quality rest and sleep to cleanse, repair, heal and rejuvenate your body.

How to lose weight by cutting  calories:

  • Pay attention to the Nutrition Facts Panel on Food Labels.
  • Limit alcohol.
  • Switch to smaller plates.
  • Eat slowly.
  • Fill up on plant food.
  • Switch to lower-fat Dairy Products.
  • Cook meats using methods that start with the letter B (broil, barbecue, bake or braise) and you save lots of calories over frying, sauteing and stewing.
