International Weight Control Tricks

It is a fact, that you can lose weight and maintain it by eating healthy diet foods and regular physical exercise. Seriously, no need to deprive yourself of your favorite foods!

It is important to point out, that we eat too much and our basic diet is overloaded with ingredients that keep us struggling to keep the weight down. As a matter of fact, the typical North American diet contains more than double the recommended amounts of fat and protein, and less than half the recommended amount of carbohydrates. It is, therefore, no wonder that so many of us spend our lives trying one “quick fix” diet after another, only to gain back the pounds and inches over and over again!

The good news is, that other cultures all over the world have proven that it is possible to maintain your body weight at a healthy and attractive level without depriving yourself of foods you love.

Trick # 1. Stop going on crash diets. They offer only temporary results, and can even be harmful .Make a commitment to maintain a healthy diet as a regular part of your lifestyle. If you eat the proper diet foods in adequate quantities and add regular physical exercise, you’ll not only lose weight but will have a healthier body, a stronger heart, improved self esteem and, last but not least, a happier life.

Trick # 2. Stop counting calories, start counting percentages and see the calories taking care of themselves! Your daily diet should contain 60 percent to 70 percent carbohydrates, 15 percent to 20 percent protein, and 15 percent to 20 percent fat.

Trick # 3. Eat at least 3 meals a day. Some cultures believe that the main meal of the day should be eaten between noon and 2 p.m. with a light evening meal and no food after 8 p.m.  If this doesn’t work for you, eat your meals at hours that fit in with your schedule.

Trick # 4. Include in your daily diet 3 to 5 whole fruits, 3 to 4 servings of different cooked vegetables, 3 slices of whole grain bread, at least one serving of rice, potatoes or pasta, and 8 to 10 glasses of water.

Trick # 5. Eliminate or reduce the butter, margarine and sour cream in your diet.
