Hello there,

A healthy detox diet can give you greater energy, clearer skin, stronger digestive health,  better focus, improve your overall health and help you lose weight fast  in a healthy manner.

Today I am going to elaborate upon the subject of using herbs as part of  natural detox diet as a continuation of my post on Healthy Detox Diet Tips.

Some experts divide herbs into two major groups: ” housekeeping” herbs and “resistance raising” herbs and recommend using the former for 1 month, and the latter- periodically when you need special protection against toxins.

Natural Detox Diet with Housekeeping Herbs:

  • Dandelion root

Dandelion root is among the best liver remedies. It enhances the flow of blood to the liver, speeds up the cleansing of blood and helps with cellular repair after exposure to cell-damaging toxins.

It is best for sluggish digestion, constipation and mild liver insufficiency which lead to poor health and weight gain.It is especially important to use dandelion root if you are taking antidepressants.

Several cups of dandelion root tea daily are recommended.

  • Echinacea root – the deep cleaner and immune system stimulant.

What are the benefits of Echinacea as part of natural detox diet?

It is believed to stimulate the immune system and therefore treat or prevent colds, the flu, recurrent urinary, skin, or respiratory infections, and is even thought to have cancer prevention properties.

Use above ground parts and roots of echinacea fresh or dried to make teas, squeezed juice or extracts or preparations for external use.

  • Elder flower

It has  diuretic, laxative, anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties and is traditionally used to treat influenza, colds, mucus, sinusitis, feverish illnesses and other upper respiratory tract problems, as well as hay fever.

Resistance Herbs as Part of Healthy detox Diet

  • Red sorrel or Hibiscus as it is better known should be used regularly. It  is a tropical herbal delight which can easily be brewed into a wonderfully tasting tea. It tastes a little like raspberry and cranberry. It’s cheap, it’s delicious and it is incredibly healthy – for many varied conditions. Simply add a few of the blossoms to a cup of boiling water. You can also add ginger or honey if you wish.

Contributes to your body’s regular detox efforts. It is best for party people and junk food eaters.

  • Ginseng root

It is known to stimulate the immune system, lower blood sugar, increase stamina and endurance and  reduce the negative effects of stress.

Ginger root is  best for drinkers, smokers and drug users.

  • Milk thistle seed

The chemical compound in it silymarin, stimulates liver cells and helps them rid the body of alcohol and alcohol related waste products. The liver performs more than 500 functions including filtering blood and detoxifying potential carcinogens.

Milk thistle is best for farmers and lawn-care workers, painters, plumbers, electricians, dry cleaners, photo-shop workers, and professional drivers.

Other Delicious Antitoxin Beverages as part of natural detox diet:

Apple juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, green Tava  tea blend, white pine needle tea.

Notwithstanding  the detoxifying, therapeutic and healing properties of herbs, care must be taken in using them as part of natural detox diet, as they are powerful compounds.

Always consult with a physician before beginning to use any herbal products, especially if you have prior conditions or are using other medications.

Thank you for reading this post. Hope you will find the information useful.

All the best,

Maria
